Στη συνείδηση του Ελληνισμού, το Άγιο Όρος θεωρείται ιστορική επίδειξη της πορείας του έθνους. Αποτελεί το μεγαλύτερο πνευματικό προπύργιο, επηρεασμένο τόσο από την ορθόδοξη διδασκαλία όσο και από το αρχαίο ελληνικό πνεύμα. Εκτός από γεωγραφικός χώρος, θεωρείται και κατοικία της ψυχής αλλά και τόπος προσευχής. Από την ίδρυσή του ακτινοβολούσε και ακτινοβολεί σε ολόκληρη την Ορθοδοξία, μέσα από την προβολή του θρησκευτικού, εκπαιδευτικού και πολιτιστικού του χαρακτήρα. Το κείμενο αυτό στοχεύει να καταδείξει την επιρροή που άσκησε το Άγιο Όρος στην Παιδεία του Έθνους και στον πολιτισμό των Βαλκανίων, καθώς και την προσφορά και την καθοριστική συμβολή του τόσο του λαού του Άθω όσο και της ελληνικής Παιδείας στην πνευματική ανοικοδόμηση των βαλκανικών εθνών.
Konstantinos Kirikos, The influence of Mount Athos in the Education of the race and the intelectual culture of the Balkans Mast.
In the conscience of Hellenism, Mount Athos is considered a historical demonstration of the nation’s course. It comprises the largest intellectual battlement, influenced both from orthodox teaching and the ancient Greek intellect. Apart from being a geographical space, it is also considered a dwelling for the soul as well as a place for prayer. From its establishment it radiated and still radiates in the entire Orthodoxy, through the projection of its religious, educational, and cultural character. This text aims to establish the influence, exerted by Athos in the Education of the Nation and the civilization of the Balkans, as well as its offer and crucial contribution of both the people of Athos and the Greek Education in the intellectual rebuilding of the Balkan nations.
